RH Management Resources has an opportunity for a Senior Accountant in the western suburbs. In this role the Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing certain aspects of external financial reporting for a publicly traded company, including preparation and filing of the quarterly and annual SEC required filings (Form 10-K and 10-Q). In addition, the Senior Accountant is responsible for certain monthly and quarterly general ledger accounting activities in compliance with U.S. GAAP, monthly consolidation and management reporting, oversight of the Sarbanes-Oxley compliance effort, as well as certain aspects of the financial planning and analysis function. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Accounting.
Responsibilities of the role
Assists with Monthly Financial Reporting and SEC Filings, including:
Preparation of public filings required by SEC regulations (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K) including responsibility for financial statement disclosures, MD&A, and all other components of SEC filings including XBRL tagging.
Preparation of the monthly consolidated financial reporting package and other required internal financial communications.
Annual proxy preparation process and quarterly earnings releases, including financial exhibits and other communications/presentations for accuracy and completeness.
Corporate Accounting and Audit Support, including:
Assist with the monthly financial accounting close process; prepares/reviews journal entries, performs account analysis associated with areas of responsibility; prepares/reviews consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules.
Lead monthly project manager meetings to update percentage of completion schedules for our long-term construction contracts; Record month-end journal entries in support of revenue recognition; Provide monthly analysis of the construction projects in support of the management reporting package.
Review foreign subsidiary financial statements for compliance with US GAAP and assists with the preparation of the financial statement consolidation as needed.
Coordinate and prepare schedules for the annual financial statement audit and quarterly review- Prepares in coordination with the external auditors.
financial analyses and creates ad hoc reports for internal reporting as required.
Assist with the annual budget process, monthly financial forecast and cash flow forecasting as needed.
Proposes recommendations for changes and continuous improvements to accounting policies and processes. May manage the team working on implementing changes to policies/processes.
Performs other projects as requested.
Technical Research - Accounting Standards and SEC Reporting - Provide technical and consulting support on the treatment of accounting issues, interpretation and implementation of new accounting standards, and compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC and PCAOB regulations.
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited program
-Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
-Minimum of five years of accounting experience with 4 years in public accounting preferred
-Demonstrated experience with SEC financial reporting and Section 404 internal control compliance or willingness and ability to learn SEC and internal control compliance
-Demonstrated experience with revenue recognition, in particular the percentage-of-completion method of accounting
