Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Lead Patient Accounts Specialist for our Central Registration department located at Skokie Hospital in Skokie, IL. This is a full-time position and is benefits eligible. Hours will be scheduled primarily on first shift, Monday - Friday, but must have the availability to work any shift as needed. Rotating weekends and on-call availability required.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Provide Access to healthcare in accordance with established policies; identify payment sources for all services provided; to assist in collecting payments for services and triage patients or their representatives for financial counseling

  • Respond to communication in a timely and professional manner

  • Act as an internal/external resource for all customer groups; abide by all internal and governmental/regulatory compliance expectations.

  • Analyze and review all clinical orders for medical necessity and communicates with payer requirements to Physicians and patients as necessary

  • Acts as a leader in the department; performs quality assurance activities and coaches staff in positive and constructive manner.

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, College degree preferred

  • At least 3 years of customer service experience in a healthcare or health insurance related field. 1 year of demonstrated ability to supervise and support team operations

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and insurance industry terminology preferred

  • Quality assurance and/or coaching experience preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft applications

  • Typing speed of 30 wpm required
