As such, the Global Logistics Manger is responsible for overseeing all functions of the Domestic and International Logistics team. This includes the traffic and transportation of Bell, Giro and Camelbak goods and services, with the objective that all products be delivered on time, to the proper destination, in the quantity ordered, and with the agreed upon quality standards at the lowest price possible to be consistent with the expectations of the company and customers.

Responsibilities with support from the Global Logistics Team:

  • Manage Ocean, Air Freight and Domestic Transportation

  • Determine and assign mode of transportation via air; parcel or freight

  • Responsible for managing all inbound shipments, including working with carriers and the 3PL provider to ensure excellent delivery performance

  • Create processes and find opportunities to reduce spend while maintaining quality and on time delivery

  • Correspond with the Bell Giro and Camelbak teams worldwide on Logistics matters

  • Responsible for freight, and 3PL invoicing to appropriate account codes

  • Responsible for reporting and analysis of spend and trends by cost per unit for freight, duty and cargo management fees

  • Responsible for logistics budget center; maintaining cost analysis reports

  • Work closely with Accounts Payable to ensure that freight payments are made and freight is not delayed

  • Measure and Publish key performance indicators for ocean, air and ground delivery and spend

  • Evaluate existing capabilities and establish new systems and processes for tracking

  • Assist in arranging and tracking expedited freight

  • Provide estimated air and ocean freight information to various Bell Giro and Camelbak teams

  • Oversee all origin planning of ocean freight with Forwarder

  • Communicate directly with ocean carriers on space issues and equipment issues as the need arises

  • Manage booking approvals with vendors; Liaise with supply planners and Hong Kong team

  • Approve or revise vessel schedules for CFS shipments and CY shipments

  • Approve or revise consolidated loads and container fill of CFS shipments

  • Complete set up of new vendor requests to go EDI and OMB access; manage International vendor list

  • Manage EDI Manifests -856- from Forwarder as well as EDI kickouts

  • Communicate with Ocean Forwarder of any discrepancy in container manifest report vs SAP

  • Ensures any items classified hazmat are shipped in accordance within the rules of USDOT, IMDG and IATA

  • Audits and approves all transportation invoices

  • Works directly with carriers on disputed invoices and charges

  • Files claims for loss and damage and tracks through to payment

  • Plan, prepare and complete annual Ocean and Air RFP

  • Responsible for preparing statistical data for contract negotiations

  • Work closely with all sales contacts and answer questions as it relates to the RFP

  • Perform cost analysis to determine the lowest possible total cost that is consistent with the needs of the company

  • Negotiate, analyze, award lanes and assign allocations based on rates and performance

  • On board new carriers and ensure contract terms and conditions are carried over year to year

  • Manage the supply chain in an effort to find opportunities for reducing our total cost while maintaining quality and on-time-delivery metrics

  • Review traffic management functions and processes within the Bell Giro and Camelbak supply chain on an on-going basis

  • Evaluate existing capabilities and establish new systems and processes for the tracking, measurement, reporting, and analysis of all traffic.

  • Monitor and communicate carrier’s performance, capacity, tender acceptance ratio and other metrics

  • Manage the Transportation Management System (TMS) provider(s) we work with

  • Acts as a Liaison between our Distribution Center and Logistics teams and our TMS provider

  • Trouble shoots problem areas to improve efficiency

  • Communicates TMS changes needed to improve efficiency and is the project leader for set up, testing and approvals to move to production

  • Maintains our TMS client tables that contain customer specific rules that are the backbone of our transportation system

  • Work with carriers, customs broker, 3PL’s on traffic flow/management issues. Establish/Maintain/Improve processes and procedures

  • Provide visibility to business units on delivery status

  • Lead the analysis and provide statistical information on the tracking of product shipments

  • Create and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)

  • Coordinate special projects and weekend pickups with carriers

  • Coordinate carrier pickup schedules to maximize shipping

  • Supports Customer Service

  • Provides a source for quick resolution to customer inquiries

  • Communicates service delays due to weather, natural disaster or civil unrest issues

  • Responsible for Managing Logistics Analysts

  • Train, coach, and educate

  • Oversee that all responsibilities of direct reports are met with no outstanding issues, and assist as needed

  • Create, communicate and manage goals of direct reports

  • Complete and communicate reviews of direct reports

  • Responsible for selection of new candidates/interns after reviewing resumes; a contributor and selector in the Interview Process

  • Field questions daily from direct reports

  • Mentor new employees in needed areas to make them a stronger asset to the team

  • Manage difficult situations with direct reports

  • Lead and motivate direct reports

  • Time management of direct reports

  • Assist Bell Giro and Camelbak Distribution centers with inbound receiving problems

  • Initiate and maintain effective and professional relationships with existing and new vendors. Assist and educate our internal customers in their dealings with vendors in an effort for Bell Giro and Camelbak to meet our vendor's expectations.

  • Follow company policy and procedures, Team Values, Vendor Assessment, Signature Authority and other sections/procedures as applicable.

  • Promote continuous improvement and value-added management in a service and team oriented basis.

  • Proactively accepts additional duties and/or responsibilities as directed.

  • Manage the supply chain in an effort to find opportunities for reducing our total cost while maintaining quality and on-time-delivery metrics

  • Manage inbound deliveries and shipments of vendor portal

  • Responsible for communication to the Supply Planners and HKG of market intelligence in the Logistics industry

  • Communicate discrepancy issues from the DC’s to the HKG team to arrange for vendor chargebacks

Education and Training:

  • Business Administration and / or Supply Chain degree preferred

  • Preferred experience in retail/sporting goods

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a leadership role in Traffic Management, International Logistics and/or a customs brokers environment

  • Understanding of accounting principles

  • Experience in SAP, preferred

  • Certification in transportation of Dangerous Goods would be a plus

  • Experience in retail/sporting goods industry a plus
