The incumbent is responsible for international and domestic sourcing including the procurement of raw materials, finished goods, and components for their specific business unit through the development and implementation of purchasing strategies. This includes supply relationship management, inventory management, JDE implementation, and validation and Supply Chain KPI processes and reporting. Other areas of responsibility include price negotiation, planning, production, inventory control, quality control and factory control. This position will supervise applicable sourcing staff.
Provide leadership for procurement staff at business unit facility.
Maintain understanding of complex, multiple markets and changing business models associated with broad spectrum of goods and services that directly affect profitability of corporation.
Solve critical supply chain issues resulting from supplier performance variability to ensure on-going business continuity including: financial bankruptcy, material shortages, force majeure, changes to specifications or statements of work, contractual breaches, delivery delays and plant disruptions.
Improve efficiency of supplies, services, packaging, chemical, and areas within the sourcing function by continually developing and implementing the most effective procurement systems, strategies and techniques and developing policies and procedures necessary to carry them out.
Provide purchasing knowledge to management from all divisions on major projects involving selection, negotiation, and acquisition of equipment, products or services, proposed acquisition of raw materials, R&D materials, tooling or manufacturing services on worldwide basis.
Coordinate supplier activities at business unit level; specifically, coordinating strategies to improve relationships with all Direct and qualified suppliers of corporation as well as develop integrated programs to remove costs from acquisition process.
Administer Corporate Policies and Procedures and report savings and initiative progress to senior management.
Provide leadership to business unit personnel that accurately interprets client needs; analyze market and market timing, spend, and economic indicators and indices; evaluate make-buy options; review bid documents; negotiate, review, manage contract dossiers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field is required.
Six plus years of sourcing and procurement leadership experience with a successful strategic sourcing function, with exposure to both Direct and Indirect (MRO) expenditure categories.
Proven record of high-dollar cost reductions and supply chain improvements is required.
CPSM, CPM, MCIPS, and/or CPIM certifications is desirable.
Systems experience with JD Edwards, SAP or Oracle based program is desirable.
Excellent communication skills and negotiation skills required.
Strong math skills required.
Demonstrated people leadership skills including identifying and selecting talented people, engaging and motivating individuals and teams and leading by example.
Proficient in Microsoft Office skills
