The Director, Field Specialty Services Operations helps to create and sustain a company culture that allows UL to drive operational excellence, quality, performance improvement and growth across Field Engineering Specialty Services Operations.
What you’ll learn & achieve:
Develop and implement UL’s Field Engineering Specialty Services strategic direction through innovation related to processes and standardization by having a deep understanding of the market, customer needs and employee needs in order to achieve financial results (revenue, profit, enterprise value, etc.), business growth, customer satisfaction and employee engagement within a highly matrixed organization.
Direct, plan, and coordinate activities globally for Specialty Services
Partner with Customer Operating Units (COUs) to understand financial targets; develop and execute strategic plans (LRP) to support achieving those targets
Continuously monitor and evaluate opportunities to improve cost structure and drive standardization across the specialty services operations teams to achieve efficiencies
Develop strategies for the initiation and progression of business development opportunities
Drives, creates and leads initiatives to identify new and/or additional business opportunities.
Anticipate customer needs by creating strong partnerships with Sales and Business Development.
Manage existing portfolio offerings, define new areas of expansion, and execute growth road map
Lead and direct customer management team to provide exceptional customer service to retain customers and respond to customer queries in a timely manner
Design and adapt the operation’s structure and technical capabilities to accommodate the changes in the business environment to ensure operational excellence, quality, and efficiency improvements
Drive a high-performing team by managing the performance and development of team members.
Close interaction with all field engineering L3s
Collaborates and works closely with stakeholders from Revenue Management, Sales Enablement, HR, Regional Leadership, and IT.
Build personal relationships and establish credibility and collaboration with internal stakeholders
Reports to SVP, Field Engineering Services
What makes you a great fit:
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
Strong commercial orientation; experience leading a sales organization preferred.
Strong technical and business/economic foundation, including formal account planning, sales strategy development, sales tracking, and measurement.
Ability to interact with customers throughout all levels of their organization which include highly visible activities such as negotiating or presenting.
Proven track record of success leading teams during sustained periods of rapid business growth.
Exceptional decision-making capabilities and the ability to work through others to implement those decisions.
Ability to work and lead in a matrixed organizational structure.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Digital / tech-savvy.
Business and financial acumen
A minimum of 15 years of total professional experience; 4+ years in a senior leadership role or 2+ years in a business leadership role or 3+ years in a business strategy leader role
Experience working with diverse, global teams strongly preferred
Experience managing and delivering clear, impactful communications to internal and external stakeholders
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build credible relationships with multiple functions
Ability to inspire, motivate, and influence behaviors to help change across an organization
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities
Strong analytical mindset
Experience building high-performing and highly collaborative teams
Experience driving strategic business growth
