Responsible for setting the vision for the global Abbvie Community of Science and leads the effort to identify, prioritize, and implement global functional initiatives in alignment with the strategy. Acts in a chair capacity to broaden and integrate the Scientific Governing Board purview and programs. Drives continuous development of the strategic impact of ACOS on the scientific community. Continually pursues process/program improvement with consideration of internal and external scientific trends. Utilizes knowledge of current and future business environment to make decisions on the allocation of resources across all programs/initiatives. Accountable to ensure ACOS programs/initiatives operate within defined objectives and budget. Drives functional efforts to communicate leadership messages and functional information in a matrix fashion.
Accountable for ACOSs programming and for identifying and selecting action plans that best meet the business objectives.
Anticipates and leads issue resolution.
Develops program goals and makes strategic decisions that affect the ongoing pursuit of integrated scientific collaboration.
Provides leadership to the SGB and ACOS regarding strategic business issues. Directly accountable for overall program results.
Assures ACOS program efforts continue to align with strategic initiatives.
Leads global, cross-departmental, and cross-functional teams in a matrix framework.
Must be able to anticipate and adapt to changing business and/or technology requirements.
Grade level will c ommensurate with the experience level
Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree required. Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD) highly preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of research/development, commercial, project management, portfolio management, business development, or related experience in the pharmaceutical or technology industry with a track record of expertise in one or more therapeutic areas
Recognized as a scientific expert with knowledge of AbbVie and global pharma drug development processes
Demonstrated ability to influence others across areas of scientific disciplines
A proven track record for developing and implementing complex projects.
Significant experience in communicating and presenting key information to all levels of the organization
Must be able to build a strong matrix organization and inspire workstreams to perform at the highest level possible
