+ Position Summary: Using critical care and unit specific expertise, delivers age-appropriate, quality nursing care to patients before, during and after non-invasive cardiac testing. Care is provided in accordance with the guidelines and standards set forth by the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography, Loyola University Medical Center and the Cardiographics Laboratory. Practices within the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation Nurse Practice Act. After receiving specific, documented training, monitors patients before, during and after transesophageal echocardiography during which procedural sedation may be given. May also monitor patients before, during and after stress testing, working under the supervision of a Cardiologist or Cardiology Fellow. Recognizes and consistently applies knowledge of Loyola's 14 Magnet Forces.
Position Requirements: Minimum Education: Required: Associates Degree Minimum Experience: Required: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience Minimum Experience Details: Critical Care or Cardiac Care experience required. Licensure/Certifications: Required: CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation),Current Registered Nurse License State of Illinois Preferred: Advanced Cardio Life Support Certified,Specialty certification in clinical or functional area of nursing granted by a national nursing organization.
Position Responsibilities: Maintains the Cardiographic Laboratory?s physical environment and resources to promote efficient high quality, cost effective performance. Using his/her scientific knowledge base, determines and provides for the needs of the patient during their short stay in the Cardiographics Laboratory. Promotes a service-oriented environment to be responsive to the concerns and needs of patients, family and visitors. Uses appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills in all encounters, to promote collaborative work relationships and promote effective quality patient care. Demonstrates a commitment to the concept of self-managed behavior, promoting department professionalism. Demonstrates professional competency in the provision, direction, implementation and coordination of care for patients in the Cardiographics Laboratory. Supports the Cardiographics Laboratory by demonstrating a commitment to teamwork.
