PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Responsible for inspection and evaluation of substation equipment for potential problems and identify chronic operational and maintenance problems in the Predictive Maintenance (PDM) organization. Specific accountabilities include performing minor maintenance activities (FIN) to address non-outage equipment/facility issues, recommending repair vs. replace activities to achieve desired system performance develop strategies to improve reliability initiate immediate action initiate CR and ACE reports, coordinate and facilitate RCIs and perform system performance analysis. Responsible in leading the predictive maintenance group and providing coordination with Engineering, Standards, Planning, Work Management and Work Prioritization to define the work to be managed and executed in the Asset Management and Operations organizations. Assure investment is targeted to attain the business goals and objectives. Develop and maintain an environment that promotes diversity and high performance.
Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Manages and oversees the development and implementation of short and long term strategic
investment to assure the highest levels of customer services and to achieve safety,
reliability, and performance goals.
Develop, manage and ensure compliance with the system performance investment strategy.
Manage efforts to create a prioritized portfolio of reliability programs in a timely fashion to meet
the budgeting schedule. Utilize corporate financial targets as an input and provide operational
risk feedback and recommendations for system investments. Ensure alignment of work with
financial targets to meet system performance requirements
Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high performance culture and learning
organization that seeks solutions to balance stakeholder interests.
Leads management team in promoting diversity. Serves as a change agent for business
initiatives and assures the human element is understood and considered. Assure timely
recognition of employee contributions
Provide leadership to and development of the management team. Provide accurate and timely
feedback regarding performance and operation. Conduct performance planning and appraisals. Identify opportunities for growth and learning.
Establish, maintain, and improve relationships with other departments. Contact
required with VPs, and Sr. Management to align prioritization with corporate drivers to
achieve desired system performance.
Facilitate open, and honest communication with staff. Assure that upward communication is integrated into the process, including employee concerns and complaints. Develop methods to assess communication effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Manage environmental stewardship and remediation for substations
Bachelors degree in engineering or other technical discipline.
A minimum of 8 - 10 years of industry experience in various engineering or operations areas.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of business drivers and system requirements and investment strategy to balance short and long term system performance.
Self-initiator with proven strategic talent. Requires leadership ability in a high performance culture.
Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field.
Five years previous experience as a supervisor or manager.
PDM Manager will be responsible and accountable for the direct supervision of management and bargaining unit employees within the PDM organization.
Staffing levels range form 20 to 32 employees dependent on region.
This will include but not limited to AMEs, Planner, Technicians, Substation Equipment Operators, and Substation maintenance FIN Personnel.
PDM goal is to improve system reliability and efficiency by streamlining work processes, reducing duplication, utilizing inspection, technology, diagnostics, and corrective maintenance integrated with Engineering evaluation/assessment and work prioritization to achieve continuous improvement in station health index and reliability.
Maintaining budgetary/financial, Environmental, and SAFI/CADI goals will be direct measure of PDM success.
Budget impact is the direct oversight of the T & S system facilities.
