The individual may also assist with debugging and troubleshooting High Performance Computing issues to provide Tier-2 support. The contractor will be a member of the User Experience team (UX) within the Operations Group, working on assisting users.Responsibilities include, but not limited to:Assist users with the account signup, renewal, reactivation process for access to resourcesProvide access to projects, groups, wiki spaces, job queues, mailing listsDebugging issues with multi-factor authentication setup.Setup automated notification and monitoring scripts to trigger alertsModifications to the ticketing software to help streamline existing helpdesk service processesAssist with the migration of user accounts to the new user accounting system.Provide dedicated support to attendees for various training eventsBe the Tier-1 point of contact for all user issues. Review each ticket and elevate priority by triaging queries to the appropriate SME groupsCreate documentation related to getting started guides for account and project accessResponsible for user communication as appropriate - inform users of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, unavailability of resources, availability of new resources/services, etc. This may mean coordinating with various groups across the lab to determine and identify trigger events.The resource may provide assistance with certain Tier-2 support activities such as:Installing libraries, adding modulesResolving resource contention issuesDebugging job submission issuesTroubleshooting network and connectivity issuesOther tasks as directed by the supervisorQualificationsMust Haves:3 or more years of experience working in a technical support role provide Tier-1 or Tier-2 supportExperience working in UNIX/Linux environmentsWorking knowledge of shell scripting or other coding experienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related fieldExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of users and stakeholdersStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong testing and troubleshooting skills to identify process bottlenecksSelf-starter and a team playerHands-on knowledge using ticketing software (eg. ServiceNow)Nice to haves/pluses:Python programming skillsKnowledge of HPC environment schedulers, modules, debugging jobsSource code control experience (Git/Gitlab)Experience with wiki software like ConfluenceExperience working with multi-factor authentication software such as DUOContract: 1 year; with opportunity for 2 years of extensionsEEO EmployerApex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
