Aerotek Tool Design Engineer in Goodfield, Illinois

AEROTEK IS HIRING FOR A TOOLING DESIGNER IN THE PEORIA IL AREA ASAP!!Description:

  • Work with the Product Design and Manufacturing teams to properly modify existing tools or design and implement new tools for the new product launch

  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering team and understand the timing of proposed design changes

  • Review existing tooling and establish baseline capability/determination of repair vs new design scope of work

  • Establish a robust tool design and development plan to meet major project implementation milestones. Detail and track by component part number and major weldment impacted.

  • Establish resource requirements plan in support of project timelines

  • Create CREO models of tooling as design changes are implemented to tooling

  • Create Drawings, DXF, and other instructions and order fabrication fixture and weld tool components as needed for the Fabrication Department

  • Coordinate tool build with the Tooling Department

  • Coordinate tool design reviews and update manufacturing team on timeline risks and establish risk mitigation plans

  • Coordinate Tool Certification and adjust designs as needed to ensure a robust tool. Mitigate timeline risks as needed

  • Monitor tool performance through first part order with each tool in its production location, mitigate tooling related risks as needed

Education/Experience/Knowledge Requirements:

  • Prior experience in Project Management and Tool Design Flow to manufacturing

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills

  • General understanding of manufacturing operational processes, welding, and fabrication

  • Working knowledge of related computer applications

Started as an ME support role. The tool build will between September and January in full force.

  • Hybrid ME and Tool Design – and manufacturing expectation control.

  • I need these components out of the design

  • Need to validate the tooling check

  • Will be working with the resident tool designer and tool group, and the ME side. Communicate with the PD department when they make changes.

  • There will be some last-minute changes

  • Would like them to start in May or June

Tooling – Welding and assembly fixtures – primarily welding

  • They are planning on the assembly of smaller units complete.

  • No documentation on Kondgilde tooling – we would like this person to help us put together accurate models and tooling.

  • 5 to 10 fixtures. 3 large mainframes, we are hoping that the design content can get that into one fixture.

  • Onsite or remotely, preference would be onsite.

  • The design team is looking for assistance on their end and asked us to roll ours in with them. More than likely will be a competitive bid somewhere.
