This job was posted by https://illinoisjoblink.illinois.gov : For more information, please see: https://illinoisjoblink.illinois.gov/ada/r/jobs/7837794 Summary: The Truck Driver Training Program Instructor is primarily responsible for providing an educational experience enabling students to learn and exhibit the safe operation of semi-trailer trucks through the use of classroom instruction, behind the wheel training and actual driving performance on the road and in the yard.This is a part-time position. The Instructor is required to successfully pass a DOT physical and drug screen.Essential Functions: This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Instruct truck driver training program courses.Communicate established course objectives and syllabi to the students.Develop classroom presentations, activities and assignments, keeping with course objectives. Use evaluation instruments designed to measure course objectives.Drive, inspect and clean trucks periodically.Recommend service for trucks when needed.Perform related duties as required.Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.High school diploma or equivalent.Active/valid CDL license with acceptable driving record.Pass DOT physical and drug screen.2 years of experience as a truck driver.Strong knowledge of mechanical aspects of tractor/trailers and DOT rules and regulations.Ability to relate to students to assist them to increase retention and student success. Ability to tailor teaching style to individual students.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.Preferred Qualifications:College degree in related field.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.2 years of experience as a truck driver instructor/mentor.Strong knowledge of adult learning methodology.
