The Manager, Telephonic Case Management will oversee managed-care services to clients to maximize effectiveness and accuracy in accordance with established Service Level Agreements, policies and procedures, standards of care and nursing judgment. You will assist in establishing policies and procedures for the organization for medical aspects of claims and diagnostic procedures. You will also oversee interaction with workers compensation insurance providers, employers and clients to ensure the success of the treatment plan. Additionally you will select, develop, and evaluate nurse personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
You will receive assignments in the form of objectives and determine how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. As a manager you will provide guidance to your team of nurses; ensure their case loads are balanced, act as a quality assurance manager and answer medical questions from staff and clients as well as work on other projects (such as building a new structure and feedback process).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as a variety of medical guidelines, medical records, medical bills, adjuster and provider instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence using correct medical terminology, grammar, punctuation, spelling and sentence structure.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several medical variables in a number of difficult and complex situations.
Manages, perhaps through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of the activities of the case management services department with responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing.
Education: Associates or Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Current nursing license in state of residence.
Minimum 3 years clinical experience, preferably in orthopedics, general surgery, emergency medicine, or other trauma nursing. Minimum 3 years of Case Management experience.
Prior Experience: At least 7 years’ experience working as a nurse within a managed care organization specializing in workers compensation. A minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory/management experience.
Ability to align team members around organizational strategy and values; ability to motivate staff and build unity in time of change. Goal oriented, independent self-starter.
Highly computer efficient, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Written Abilities: Proficient grammar, sentence structure and written communication skills.
Licenses or Certifications: Registered Nurse, CCM or other nationally recognized certification such as CRRN, COHN
