Essendant Sr Analyst, Financial ABC in Deerfield, Illinois


Major Responsibilities

  • Conduct quantitative and financial analysis of current and future Business/VOW opportunities to support profitable sales growth and share shift.

  • Create, automate, maintain and distribute metric tracking of revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, for projects, including VOW conversions

  • Partner with stakeholders to create and implement project plans, including regular reporting on milestones, tasks and deliverables.

  • Performs various ad hoc analyses on profitability modeling for strategic business opportunities.

  • Develop analysis tools and dashboards to improve reporting and communication of results.

  • Continually assess core business processes, procedures, and systems to identify risks and opportunities for process improvement. Recommends practical and efficient business solutions.

  • Assists the ABC model maintenance team with periodic evaluations/adjustments of certain cost/revenue allocation algorithms as required by changes in business processes.

  • Performs various profitability analyses leveraging ABC and other data sources to proactively indentify improvement opportunities in different segments of the business with focus on both P&L and Balance Sheet metrics

  • Supports business leaders and the rest of the ABC team with executing identified profitability improvement opportunities.

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to think objectively and interpret meaningful themes from quantitative and qualitative data. Ability to use logic to solve problems. Exceptionally detail oriented.

  • Finance Skills: Understands the language of Finance and Accounting. Ability to gather, analyze and organize complex financial data, identifying compelling trends and opportunities that drive action and enable measurable results.

  • Project Management: Experience in project planning, implementation, risk identification, contingency development and reporting.

  • Communication: Demonstrated strong listening, written, oral communication and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrates ability to establish and nurture positive, collaborative relationships in an organization.

  • Organization Skills: Self-starter and action-oriented, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple, competing priorities under tight deadlines.

  • Working knowledge of Activity-Based Costing tools is a plus, specifically ‘Acorn’ ABC working experience.

  • Computer Skills: High level of computer proficiency in Microsoft Office; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook; Fundamental knowledge of Hyperion, Vistex and SAP a plus.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, in Finance, Accounting, Economics, General Business, Operations Management or similar field

  • 3-5 years’ work experience
