Sets the strategic direction of the practice?s overall business objectives, client management principles and its? efforts to influence industry practices such that revenue and profit expectations are achieved. The Practice Leader is responsible for assessing their talent pool for gaps, ensuring their structure aligns with the business needs, and develops & manages their employees. In addition, this individual will be the primary contact with our carrier relationships and contract management.


  • Staff management and development ? establishes client centric staffing plans and employs qualified and capable professionals able to satisfy service expectations, compliance and reporting requirements and provide strategic, operational, and tactical support to all aligned constituents. Ensures performance and development plans are in affect for all staff and meets regularly with each to ensure established professional management and development tenets are maintained across the practice. The responsibility of this role also includes the oversight, direction, and development of the claims department. It is further expected for the Practice Leader to play an integral role in the process of recruiting prospective talent for the practice on a regular basis.

  • Revenue Growth ? ensures the requisite focus and attention is given to growing revenues across the practice, and includes, but is not limited to, supporting the acquisition of new clients, and selling additional services and/or products to existing clients. Assists producers in obtaining new Property & Casualty risks across the firm and/or aids in coordinating the appropriate internal support team. The responsibility also includes defending threats from other brokers on Property & Casualty accounts.

  • Profitability ? ensures the appropriate attention is paid to expense management and labor utilization to maximize profits and produce a positive return on the investment of staff?s time which is being devoted to client service and support. This position holds the P&L responsibility for the Practice.

  • Business Development ? allocate significant attention to Partners and Producer?s new client acquisition activities to help achieve the organization?s and individual Partner and Producer annual new business production goals.

  • Client Persistency ? ensures the proper processes and feedback mechanisms are in place to maintain a persistency rate consistent with practice expectations. Due to the relationship nature of this profession the Practice Leader is expected to spend fifty percent of their time working on and interacting with clients.

  • Client Satisfaction ? ensures an honest, straight-forward, and open relationship exists with all clients to promote a strong working partnership between the client and the assigned Plexus account team - it is expected that such transparency will promote positive client satisfaction and mutual trust.

  • Carrier Relationships ? actively maintains a productive working relationship with all key carriers and third-party vendors to stay abreast of changes in product/service offerings, to promote sound business partnerships and to effectively manage the relationships between our clients and dedicated carriers and vendors.

  • Industry Presence ? dedicates appropriate time to build relationships across the property & casualty industry, works to gain and maintain visibility across key ancillary organizations and seeks to gain acceptance as a thought-leader and spokesman for key issues affecting the industry.

  • Plexus Global Network ? Oversee Plexus? relationships with global broker partners to ensure appropriate local broker representation to service Plexus? client needs in countries around the world. Serve as a Plexus representative and engage in activities with membership organizations to include but not limited to Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers (CIAB), Tech Assure and TRC.

  • Internal Engagement ? actively contributes as a member of the Senior Leadership team and collaborates with other practice leaders. This leader is expected to uphold and promote the Plexus culture, while promoting positive interactions within the practice and across the organization.


  • A bachelor?s degree from an accredited university or applicable experience is required. A graduate degree is preferred.

  • Must have 10 years of insurance brokerage, risk, client management, and carrier relationship management experience. A qualified candidate must possess a minimum of 15 years of overall Property & Casualty experience.

  • State Property & Casualty license is required; industry professional designation is a plus

  • Holds established market relationships and has maintained a positive, visible presence in the global property marketplace.

  • Experience managing budgets, and hiring, training, developing, supervising and appraising personnel.

  • A proven progressive track record in driving new business results.

  • A positive consultative and resourceful approach to interacting with prospects, existing clients, and internal associates.

  • Outstanding communication, presentation, organizational and time management skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability, executive presence, ability to motivate staff and influence company culture.

  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem solving experience.

  • Collaborative style driven to support a fast paced growth organization and capable of championing the overall corporate vision.

  • Experience developing relationships with people at all levels of the organization, internally and externally.

  • Intermediate knowledge of computer and Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Ability to communicate well both orally and verbally.

  • Ability to read, write and interpret documents, routine reports and correspondence.

This is a full- time, exempt position. This role must work 40.0 hours a week to maintain full time status. Standard business hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Due to the responsibility that a leadership role carries, this person may need to be available early in the morning and work into the evening or on weekends, as business needs require.


This role is expected to travel 40% of the time, when it is safe to do so per CDC and local guidelines.
