During the 12-18 month program (dependent on the track), participants will have the opportunity to perform meaningful assignments in various rotations while gaining a broader perspective, along with exposure to leadership of the different departments in their chosen career track. Rotations are selected based on the business need as well as the RDP member's career interests, goals, and skills.RDP Support and DevelopmentThe program provides participants with dedicated ongoing support and professional development opportunities that include:?Two program mentors?Monthly speaker series?Learning & Development sessions?Career Development opportunities?Comprehensive orientation?Social Events?Access to RDP Alumni NetworkThe Rotational Development Program offers five tracks:?Corporate Finance Track ?Asset Management Track?Technology Track ?Asset Services of America Track?Credit Track Asset Management TrackThe Asset Management track includes three 6-month rotations, with additional 3-month elective options.The Asset Management Track offers an opportunity to gain experience in investment strategy, research, portfolio management, and sales/servicing areas. Core rotations are completed within our traditional asset management and wealth management business units in order to prepare for a role in investment research or investment client servicing.Examples of potential responsibilities (note: work will vary by rotation and business need):?Assist and support in the development and communication of asset allocation policy.?Contribute to the research and writing of index bulletins, marketing pieces and quarterly index commentaries.?Collect data on various asset classes for client presentations and competitor research.?Build and maintain financial models to support stock analyses.?Attend and set up meetings with sell-side equity analysts and company management teams.?Work on portfolio analytics and attribution of various fixed income portfolios.?Learn the impact of global economic data and monetary policy on fixed income portfolio management strategies.?Gain insight into the sales and client service areas of Northern TrustPlacement Opportunities:?Associate Portfolio Analyst?Associate Investment Analyst - Investment Strategy ?Associate Investment Research Analyst - Equity Research?Associate Analyst - Alternative Investments (Private Equity, Hedge Fund)Requirements:?Strong interest in global markets and economies?Finance coursework or related internship experience?Demonstrated technical knowledge in various asset management topics?Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills?Strong attention to detailRecommended Attributes:?Advanced Excel skills with experience working with financial models?Understanding of Macroeconomics?Understanding of Financial Statements?Understanding of Fixed Income and Equity basics?Familiarity with Bloomberg and FactsetMembers of Northern Trust's Rotational Development Program possess the following:?A bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university?A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least a 3.0?Previous internships or related work experience?Strong oral and written communication skills?Analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills?Adaptability and ability to learn quickly in high-pressure environments?Leadership, teamwork and client servicing ability?A well-rounded character, appreciating diversity and valuing inclusion?Knowledge and interest in Northern Trust and the financial services industryAfter successfully completing the program, qualified Associates will apply for a role that best leverages the experiences they've gained throughout their rotations and meets their career interests.
