Responsibilities

The Strategy team for the Worldwide Commercial Business (WCB) drives the development and execution of the WCB strategy and field operating model. This includes how the organization benefits customers and partners, enabling WCB to support them more effectively, efficiently, and with competitive differentiation. The team builds the connective tissue across WCB Leadership, GSMO (Global Sales and Marketing Org) and MCB (Marketing & Consumer Business) to gain alignment and leverage existing capabilities, while empowering our people to be nimble, agile, successful, and thrilled to work for Microsoft.

This is an extremely exciting opportunity to join the newly created WCB Strategy team. The WCB Strategy and Planning team will ensure that we have a quality process to define strategies with clarity. We will work to quickly establish a multi-year roadmap – planning priority initiatives based on impact, and our ability to execute and absorb change.

A key element to a successful strategy is the ability to implement, assess effectiveness and adapt. This Senior Director role will be accountable for delivery of a portfolio of strategic initiatives, and for the overall PMO infrastructure for WCB. This includes direct leadership of a team of project managers who will be delivering the high-risk projects that cross organizational boundaries. This leader will also be accountable to evaluate ROI and drive decisions points on further investment.

  • Opportunity to lead and drive high impact, cross-org projects.

  • Help build our PMO infrastructure to support longer term strategic initiatives.

  • Ensure we have the right processes and measurements in place to both measure RoI and help set our future direction.

  • Collaborate and partner with segment teams, field sales leaders and product marketing to drive longer term strategy.

  • Create listening systems to ensure the right business challenges are identified and addressed.

  • Understand market trends to inform strategic direction.

  • Provides increased transparency and integration across all groups.

  • Strives for excellence in project and process-based work, simplifying processes without compromising outcomes.

  • The Portfolio Management Leader is a senior business partner and people leader who leads key decisions across the business as well as marketing planning and governance.

  • Collaborate with Finance, HR, field leads from Specialist and Customer Success Units, Services, Global Sales and

  • Marketing Organization, and One Commercial Partner to ensure alignment in goals and execution.

  • As a member of the leadership team, you will model the Microsoft cultural attributes, environment for inclusion, and leadership principles.

Qualifications

Leading People: Passionate about leading people and building cultures centered on accountability and empathy. Building organizations that are nimble, welcome innovation and risk, celebrate success, and serve as a coach and role model for the team. In addition to manage a team, a strong ability to lead across a matrixed organization and creating clarity and delivering results through others without direct reporting relationships is critical.

Communicating with clarity: Experience communicating complex, ongoing business data and insights across a large set of stakeholders and turning those insights into action.

Creating alignment across organizations: Experienced working across different disciplines including finance, marketing, sales, and engineering to align to shared goals.

Cloud business and market: Experienced in the development and execution of successful cloud customer and sales models and understand the market dynamics around customers moving to the cloud.

  • 10+ years industry and/or related Business Program management experience

  • 5+ years of management of senior teams with worldwide responsibilities.

  • Strong communication, community and program management skills and experience

  • Strong self-motivation andability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop communication strategy and execution plans.

  • Problem-solving ability, especially in gathering data to drive decision making under stringent timelines.

  • The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage ambiguity.

  • Strong oral and written communication,organization,and interpersonal skills

  • Highly adaptable, and strong collaborator, fierce advocate, and influencer

  • Experience of designing, building, and executing highly successful programs at scale

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
