Zurich North America is hiring an experienced Property Underwriter to join our Wholesale Standard Large Property team! We are open to hiring talent in one of the following locations: Atlanta, New York or Chicago. Zurich Wholesale Standard Property offers Large Property insurance solutions to the marketplace with Property all-risk coverage.

This role will be filled at either the Mid-Level II or Senior Level III. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skillset relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

As a member of Zurich's Underwriting team, you will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your underwriting and marketing skills. Specifically, you will underwrite and analyze new and renewal Standard Large Property Wholesale business utilizing the Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels on assignments of higher technical complexity ensuring a high-level service to customers.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Underwriting, analyzing and generating new and renewal large property business

  • Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules

  • Developing and maintaining wholesale broker relationships

  • Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments

  • Responsible for working on renewal and new business accounts

Mid-Level Underwriter II Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaOR

  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area OR

  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support areaAND

  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory guidelines

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Experience working within time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business

  • Experience working in a fast-paced team environment

Senior Underwriter III Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR

  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR

  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge of Property line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Advance knowledge of Large Property lines of business and experience working with wholesale distribution

  • Ability to effectively assess risk

  • Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines

  • Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating

  • Possess knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
