Senior Lifestyle Memory Care Specialist in Chicago, Illinois

This position is responsible for assisting the memory care/community team (Memory care, Programming, Health and Wellness, Sales, Hospitality, and Divisional Director of Memory Care and Programming) in providing direct support in day to day operations. Ensuring compliance with all community policies and procedures as they apply to Memory Care. The Memory Care Specialist may direct the MCD or fill in during an extended absence of an MCD to implement and oversee the Memory Care points of distinction established in the areas of Embrace Wellness, Embrace Enrichment, Embrace Creativity, Embrace Connection, Embrace Challenge and Embrace Teamwork.

  • Work Collaboratively with the VP of Resident Experience and the Divisional Directors of Memory Care to assist with the oversight of memory care operations at assigned community.

  • Assist in promoting the company’s Embrace philosophy in all aspects of his/her role to include interactions with resident, family, and staff and the daily oversight of Memory Care operatio

  • Work collaboratively with the community leadership team to develop, implement and provide oversight on all aspects of care/programming for Memory Care residents. Provide direct oversight within the community in the absence of a director.

  • Assist with planning/organizing the monthly programming calendar and needed suppli

  • Provide education, training and hands on support to community memory care staff.

  • Monitor staff competencies and ensure ongoing training in relation to SLC Embrace standards for Memory Care.

  • Work with residents, families and the Community to ensure that residents are engaged, and community team is meeting the “Be Inspired”, and Embrace programming standards.

  • Develop and/or monitor documentation systems to ensure that all regulatory timeframes for review of assessments/service plans and programming standards are met and that resident needs and overall well-being are met.

  • Assist in Implementing and monitoring programs and processes to promote excellence in programming while maintaining a high level of resident/family/staff satisfaction in a fiscally responsible manner.

  • Assist with the memory care operational oversight of the community assignment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Level of Formal Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Area of Study: Social Work: Recreation Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field

Years of Experience: Mid-level (3-5 years)

Type of Experience: Three to five years of experience working with individuals with Dementia including leading programs, handling complex behavioral issues, and educating staff on families on Alzheimer’s or Dementia related topics.

Special Certifications: Activities Director Certification, Certified Therapeutic Recreation

Specialist, Certified Dementia Practitioner, or other related Certifications

Language Skills: Proficiency with written and spoken English required.

Technical Competencies: Entry-level proficiency with Microsoft Office Products

Information Systems: Experience with EHR and Microsoft Office preferred.

Other/Preferred: 90% Travel among multiple SLC communities is required.

  • A clean driving record with no more than one violation and/or accident within the past 5 years is required for this position.
