Freedman Seating Co Maintenance Mechanic in Chicago, Illinois
Position: Maintenance Mechanic
Reports to: Department Supervisor
Position Statues: Non-Exempt
Shift: Monday- Friday 3:00pm-11:30pm
Position Summary: Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Abides OSHA and FSC rules and regulations for safety.
Wear typical protection gear in an environment that contain dust, odors and noise.
Work well under pressure.
Repairs and maintains hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic manufacturing equipment.
Inspects and troubleshoots machines work properly.
Diagnose and resolve equipment breakdowns on the production floor.
Run electrical conduit, as well as data and air lines to work areas and equipment.
Evaluate and fix pneumatic, power, and mechanical hand tools.
Complete and turn-in all work order paperwork.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Demands
Required to stand for long periods of time and walk frequently.
Must be able to frequently lift and/or move objects of 50 pounds or more.
Must be able to cover other shifts/overtime as necessary.
Must be able to bend and squat frequently.
Must be able to stand for 8 hours or more daily.
Required Knowledge and/or Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
2 years minimum relevant technical experience, degree or certifications; Or combination of education and experience.
Experience working with 3-phase 480V, reading electrical schematics, and troubleshooting DC-motors.
Welding, HVAC, plumbing, and residential electrical experience a plus
Ability to read English.
Must have strong math and measurement skills.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with others.
