IT Support Specialist
The IT Support Specialist is responsible for the everyday tasks involved with the maintenance and support of the computing environment (IT hardware and software and business applications) for Vi's corporate office and community locations. In addition, this position provides production and project support in the areas of technical documentation, development, configuration, testing troubleshooting, installation and rollout tasks. Requires 25 -- 50% travel.
Principal responsibilities include:
Performs as level 2/3 technical support to helpdesk to resolve escalated issues including troubleshooting/resolving issues, debugging, and tuning operations.
Logs and fully documents support calls in the helpdesk ticket system; updates daily status of support tickets.
Coordinates and works with vendors and local site technicians for support.
Creates support documentation and trains helpdesk on additions and updates to the technical environment.
Participates in weekly help desk status calls and reviews monthly reports. Works with the IT staff to create and improve help desk support processes.
Supports the annual PC Replacement program, working closely with IT team members, consultants, vendors, and local technicians. This includes configuring new equipment (PCs, laptops, tablets, phones, timeclocks, kiosks, and other similar devices) with Vi's standard image.
Installs desktop software and custom applications on PCs and networks; installs new PCs and peripherals.
Maintains PC security by reviewing daily reports and removing viruses/ malware/spyware.
Maintains user access to enterprise systems and directories.
Qualified applicants are required to have a minimum of 2 years experience in an IT support role and/or IT project implementations. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 7/10 Enterprise Operating Systems, Active Directory Group Policy, Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, Microsoft Configuration Manager, Office 365, and Microsoft suite of office products including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project and Visio.
Excellent troubleshooting, break/fix skills and follow-through are required along with strong communication skills and interpersonal skills required for relationship building and for fostering collaboration across departments. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, parallel assignments with accountability for timely delivery results. BS degree required in Computer Science or Management Information Systems. Microsoft certifications preferred.
