Position Responsibilities:

  • Author grant applications, funding/program proposals, and reports – for new and continued funding of programs – to significantly increase support from government, corporate, foundation and organization sources

  • Develop and submit inquiries, applications, proposals and reporting to local, regional and national institutions (including government) focusing on growth toward significant support from six and seven-figure grants

  • Maintain all deadlines and submissions within the organization’s CRM including donor records, files, reports, and source materials

  • Collaborate with staff across the organization to inform proposals and reports

  • Other duties as required

Position Requirements and Specifications

This position includes the following requirements:

  • Degree in English, Liberal Arts, Communications, or other relevant field or equivalent combination of training and experience required

  • 4 or more years of relevant experience

  • Exceptional writing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications especially Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and databases

  • Creative individual with the ability to think strategically who possesses excellent time management skills and handle multiple projects with high attention to detail and work under pressure to meet critical deadlines.

  • Ability to get up to work effectively with little direction or supervision

  • Cultural competency; experience and/or ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience

Additional Information: This position interacts with all departments through meetings, phone and email communication. Must have professional appearance and demeanor. The incumbent is required to gain an understanding of the organization, its mission, vision, values, and operating philosophies, and how developmental activities impact the operation and success of the organization. Individual is expected to be present at development, marketing, and other events sponsored by OHU for its employees, volunteers, and other professional participants and audiences. Position may occasionally require early morning, evenings, and weekends.
