CNO Financial Group Data Analyst - Underwriting in Chicago, Illinois
As a Data Analyst in the Underwriting group you will maintain responsibility for organizing, designing, and/or maintaining internal underwriting trend analysis. You will be the point person for both on-demand and long-term analysis; you will leverage existing data within the team to create user-friendly reports and/or summaries to support management or the entire team; re-structure and maintain existing reporting in addition to creating new reports/summaries; and provide project and organizational support as needed. At present, most analysis and reporting will be done through Microsoft Excel with occasions to present more formal summaries in Microsoft Word or PowerPoint as needed.
Responsible for outside vendor reporting and materials; maintains all documentation and uses vendor-provided data to create digestible reports and/or summaries for management review.
Maintain and streamline audit analysis and create consistency in audit recording and trend analysis across different lines of business.
Work directly with auditors and managers to gather requirements from team stakeholders and propose reporting designs and structures to suit individual and/or overall team needs. Summarize lengthy reports for all lines of business on a monthly basis.
Makes initial observations for review by serving as second set of eyes on projects and analyses sent to external partners.
Produces and participates in the requirements gathering, design, and implementation of analytical deliverables with a focus on underwriting projects.
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or risk-related major; or equivalent experience. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
Typically up to three years of related work experience.
Experience designing and maintaining reports in Excel. Must have experience with vlookups, pivot tables, etc.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Self-starter who is comfortable in an agile environment.
Seeks guidance and direction from others as needed; checks/confirms understanding with peers.
Ability to take direction from peers and managers and run with report generation and initial analyses fairly independently.
Provides high-level visual summaries or work detail as needed.
Detail-oriented, methodical in problem solving approaches, and able to quickly learn and adopt organizational processes.
