WSP is currently initiating a search for a Construction Inspector I for our Chicago office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure contractor compliance with project plans and specifications on construction projects and maintain documentation to support quality specifications, payment and project acceptance.

• Read, understand, and interpret project plans and contract documents. Identify possible problems in contract documents and propose solutions or refer them to the Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager or Resident Engineer as appropriate.

• Coordinate communication and exchange of information between the project manager, engineering team, management, contractors and vendors. Coordinate internal and external communication relative to the project.

• Assist with investigating and identifying construction deficiencies.

• Monitor testing and commissioning activities.

• Create complete and accurate inspection reports that document all on site activities.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS degree in Civil/Construction Engineering

• Entry level; no experience required

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

• Availability to work day, night, or weekend shifts.

• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

• Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic skills with MS Office Suite

• e-Builder experience
