TheBuyer II-Indirectcoordinates the process for purchasing for non-inventory and marketing items as well as identifies opportunities to reduce cost.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Sourcing – Marketing, Literature, MRO

  • Gathers information including normal product usage, seasonal variation, current inventory levels, general trends, projected sales data, scarcity of products, and projected future price changes.

Purchase Orders/Requisitions

  • Prepares purchase orders for Marketing and Literature based on system recommendations for quantities and timing of orders.

  • Reviews requisitions and places orders for MRO goods and services

  • Works with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

  • Negotiates prices, payment terms and shipping terms

  • Expedites inbound delivery of materials based on changes in demand as identified in ASCP reports and through discussions with Supply and Demand planning teams.

  • Provides regular status of material availability, pricing movement, and issue resolution (invoice discrepancies).

  • Assists Labels Manager as needed

Cost Savings

  • Identifies opportunities for cost savings with suppliers and/or materials through negotiation, consolidation, bids, etc.

New Product Introductions

  • Assists in the rollout of new product introductions and/or product improvements by sourcing new materials or negotiating for new volume and pricing for existing ingredients.

Supplier Performance

  • Works with suppliers to resolve non-compliant materials or issues with on-time delivery. Handles return of all damaged goods to vendors.

  • Contributes to semi-annual review of suppliers through scorecard process.

  • Meets with suppliers on a regular basis to discuss performance.

System Management

  • Trains all new users on the processes of requisitions and punch-outs within the Oracle I-Procurement module.

  • Supports all end user inquires within Oracle platform by trouble shooting and problem solving. Works with IT to add and maintain punch-outs to electronic catalogs with suppliers

  • Complies with safety and GMP requirements.


  • Supports a culture of safe production and operations; follows all safety rules and procedures.

  • Actively participates in the safety program by: engaging in training activities to learn what constitutes a safety hazard; reporting safety concerns to the supervisor, submitting safety suggestions, and correcting or reporting to the appropriate people when you see a workplace health or safety hazard, until it is resolved.

  • Assists with communicating safety information to new employees.

  • Fulfills responsibilities as outlined in the company safety management plan.

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Ability to organize workload and multi-task to ensure all tasks are completed on time.


  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from company management and outside agencies.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and act as an "ambassador" for the company.


  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to organize information and communicate well.


  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint).

  • Experience with Oracle a plus.

  • Good attention to detail skills required.

  • Promotes teamwork, possesses a good attitude, and exhibits flexibility and willingness to change tasks and help where needed in a fast-paced environment.
