Night Shift - 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. - 3/12 hour shifts per week/alternate weekends

Pepper Family Hospice CareCenter - Barrington, Illinois

Are you a high-energy CNA with recent nursing home, home health, hospital, assisted living or hospice experience?

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assists the registered nurse with caring for patients. They assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal hygiene for patients who reside at the CareCenter. The certified nursing assistant also gives support to family members and reports any changes in patient status to the registered nurse.

  • Assists patients with personal care such as bathing, washing hair, painting and cutting nails, shaving, oral care, dressing

  • Assesses patient’s skin condition, weight, measurements and pain scale and reports any changes or issues to the registered nurse

  • Makes the patients bed and assists with transferring patients as needed

  • Assists patients with eating meals

  • Conducts safety checks in regards to patient’s environment and plan of care (i.e. carpets, oxygen tanks, open flames and electrical wires)

  • Educates family members and caregivers regarding personal care

  • Documents each patient visit and phone call

  • Attends interdisciplinary team and CNA meetings regarding patients and families

  • Other duties may be assigned or required for the performance of this position

  • Orders supplies when needed

  • Delivers supplies as part of the patient visit

Required Experience:

  • High School general education degree

  • Training in HIPPA, Infection Control, safety, personal care and documentationCNA certification

  • One to three years of CNA experience in nursing home/assisted living facility

  • Experience working with terminally ill individuals, a plus

  • Certain positions require Pediatric skill competencies on an infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Communication skills verbal and written

  • Experience using Hoyer lifts, gait belts, walkers, wheelchairs, canes, shower benches/chairs, electric beds and other medical equipment

  • Organization skills

  • Able to use cell phone, computer skills, voice mail
