General Electric UX Interaction Designer in Arlington Heights, Illinois

Role Summary:

GE Healthcare is seeking an Interaction Designer to join the Digital Platform UX team. In this role, you'll help create useful, usable, and desirable web and mobile applications that deliver healthcare to patients. You'll influence programs to develop and maintain products based on design and UX principles shared across the organization. You'll also lead, consult, or manage multiple UX projects, and work on projects that require in-depth knowledge across multiple specialized business domains.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and influence business-wide discussions relative tocurrent user experience projects and the future direction of design and userexperience

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Agile / Lean UXmethodologies

  • Guide effective documentation and communication of design -via wireframes, mockups, prototypes and user stories

  • Conduct research and evaluation based on emerging design,technology, industry, and market trends


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited University

  • A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in product orservice design

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.

  • Must be willing to travel 15%

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Chicago, IL

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong working knowledge of principles of Web andapplication design (HTML, CSS, JS)

  • Uses participatory design activities (e.g. paper prototypeco-creation, card sorting) to understand vision, business model and assumptionsand tacit knowledge about user needs and behaviors.

  • Conducts user research to understand user needs, mentalmodels and working contexts

  • Synthesizes output of stakeholder research & createsvisualizations that effectively summarize key insights related to user andcustomer needs and behaviors, product definition.

  • Creates annotated prototypes or wireframes of user interfacedesigns that visually and textually communicate the behavior of a softwareapplication.

  • Skilled in standard design & wireframing tools (AdobeCC, OmniGraffle, Sketch), hand drawing and visual communication, time-based andinteractive prototyping tools (Hype, Adobe Edge, Keynote)

  • Expresses UX and design concepts to collaborators on crossfunctional teams. Goes beyond merely presenting designs, explains the story ofthe rationale and benefit of design ideas.
